Process Matters

We live in a world where hidden production processes hurt people and the environment. We can’t see how our clothes are made or how our food is packaged, and we probably wouldn’t like what we saw if we did get to glimpse behind the curtain. Process matters as much as the product itself. Whether the world thinks so or not, it’s what we believe. We set out to make our products and process healthy, beautiful and sustainable. Designers, artists, print-makers, farmers, businesses, community partners and students all learning how to better tomorrow by making better choices today.

Our Golden Rule

It’s simple: treat others the way you want to be treated. We only print on garments sewn by people who were paid and treated fairly. All of the printing is done with our own two hands on a 20 year old screen printing press lovingly dubbed Iron Abe. Occasionally our high school students will help if they are in need of extra money or want to learn more about the process. Profits from the shirts support the program, guest artists and our business.
Everyone a Teacher. Everyone a Student.

An informed populous is a force to be reckoned with. An entertained populous is the opposite. Now more than ever it’s vital to foster an insatiable curiosity among both youth and adults. Instead of propagating stereotypes that vilify “the other,” we’re constantly learning and asking more questions both in and out of the shop. It’s a posture that keeps us humble life-long learners and helps students do the same.

Social Entrepreneurship

Over the last four years we have fallen in love with social entrepreneurship: using business principles to create social change. After working for non-profits and seeing their reliance on donations stifle their efficacy, we decided to fund our own program a little differently.
Time for a little transitive property: Ambrose designs, prints and sells tees that support after school workshops. → Workshops help high school students in our community gain exposure to (and experience with) creative problem solving. → Creative problem solvers change the world. → Ambrose grows creative problem solvers that will change the world .*
*Well, we’re trying. ;)
